had the opportunity to watch a real autopsy being performed today. needless to say, it was quite the learning experience. i won't go into all the gory details here but i will tell you that it was a much different from the cadavers in our anatomy labs. this patient... this body... this PERSON was still... fresh. the blood was still red and her skin was still plump. sure the rigor mortis was starting to set in, but she still looked like a REAL person. like someone who's just asleep.
i'm glad for the experience. but forensic pathology is just not my cup of tea.

Hey I had my first ever dissection today. thought it was pretty awesome and that we should have that every anatomy class; i reckon i'd actually pick something up in anatomy prac.
i did wonder what the difference was between the cadavers and real surgery/autopsy.
i guess now i know
