my daily routine on monday afternoons.
i scan the front page for interesting articles when one about the world swimming championships in melbourne catches my eye.
i flip to the front of the sports section and the headline reads:
END OF 400M DYNASTY
Young Korean comes home like a Thorpedo
?!?!?!? WHAT !?!?!?!
17 year-old Park Tae-hwan, beats out Grank Hackett in the 400m freestyle to become the first korean to capture a gold medal in the world championships.
amazing.
abso-flippin-lutely amazing.
i'm so proud. to me this is greater than a korean playing second base for the new york yankees or a korean playing midfield for manchester united. it's bigger than a korean winning at wimbledon or augusta. this is HUGE.
and to think that he's only 17. is it premature to dream of olympic golds?
he's also 175cm and 58kg (about 5-9, 128lbs). i can't help but wonder... heck, pat is probably about that size...
